Christa Erickson is Assistant Professor of Art at the State University of New York at Stony Brook where she teaches electronic media arts. She is an interdisciplinary artist who investigates the politics, pleasures, and pains of spaces mediated by electronic technologies. Her works experiment with combinations of digital media, sculpture, video, performance, and the internet and often take the form of installations. Her individual and collaborative works have been exhibited widely, including galleries in New York City, the bi-national InSITE `94, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, and the Banff Center for the Arts in Canada. She holds and MFA from University of California, San Diego and two bachelors degrees, one in Art and the other in Computer Science from the University of Texas, Austin. Over the last six years she has done various freelance design for both web and print media. She worked as a software engineer at Bellcore and as a programmer, animator, and video editor for Alfa Engineering in the late 80s.
